About the artist
Leah Gordon is an emerging Australian painter based on Kaurna Country. Her practice explores the space she occupies as a white woman — simultaneously impacted by and implicated in structures of power. Through raw portraits and figurative scenes, she examines the complexities of gender, privilege, and complicity.
Blending pop-surrealism with realism, her work challenges patriarchy, religion, capitalism, colonialism and white feminism. Her paintings explore women's suffering, rage, power and sovereignty.
